Coming Out of the Woodwork
Today SLHS will be field testing a new state standardized test for special education students, but the problem is that the rest of the school will be operating as normal, leaving the school to find a place for these kids to test. They’ll be crammed into every semi-quiet area that can be found. So much for inclusion, right?
Can you imagine what things will be like? Students in storage closets, administrative offices, and mechanical rooms. This place is going to look like the haul of a ship circa 1903 heading to Ellis Island, with indigent passengers stuck in every nook and cranny. I just know that I’ll open a cabinet in the workroom and see a secretary with a miner’s helmet on reading instructions to three students.
