All Booked Up

So I’m flipping through this book and who do I come across? I kid you not when I say, freakin’ J.K. Rowling!

Are you kidding me?! The book jacket says, and I quote: “501 outstanding novelists, poets, playwrights, philosophers, and essayists spans the centuries as it describes writers from around the world.”

That means at worst that Rowling is #501 on the list of every writer ever. Really? What am I? #502?

Don’t bother writing me to argue, “She’s valuable; she inspired a whole new generation of readers blah, blah, blah.” Have you read the series? Her contemporaries, according to this book, are artist like Capote, Auden, Austen.

Again, really?

Oh, and don’t you dare go the success route with she sold a kajillion copies either. Debbie Does Dallas was crazy successful financially, and I don’t see it on any of AFI’s lists!
