Speak Out
We have a Gay Student Union, and they’re planning a day of silence to bring awareness. To what I’m not sure because Hammer’s e-mail didn’t go into that detail. This is what I do know:
On the other hand, I’m a bit edgy about the fact that we’ve put them all in one place, surrounded by a bunch of homophobic predators--unless the kids calling each other gaywad is the new daddio. I don’t think so though because “Shut up before I beat your ass, daddio” just doesn’t make sense.
Who knows? This may be the first step in a new direction. These kids, sitting together, protected from those who would mock and harass them may lead to others being able to sit without fear.
They will be wearing all black.Great—nothing says acceptance like segregation. Actually, I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. It’s great that a bunch of kids can ban together and make such a statement about tolerance. Again, due to lack of information, I assume that’s what this whole thing about.
That whole no talking thing…
They’ve been given an area to sit in during lunch.
