Blood Bothers
I got an e-mail from a teacher in the district providing the details of the blood drive being held at her school this weekend. She finished with, “Donating blood is the most rewarding and compassionate gift a person can give.”
Look, I donate blood (maybe I should start selling it to pay some of the bills) because it is important to me, but let’s not try to guilt people into giving. Someone who never participates in a blood drive isn’t exactly turning his back on society. There’re plenty of gestures out there that are just as rewarding and compassionate (like teaching), so let’s calm down a bit.
Listen to me; it sounds like I’m being a little over sensitive on this whole thing. Maybe some punch and sugar cookies will help.
