Tardy Tantrum
I had a student tell me that she hated me today. Calm down, she had a valid reason--I counted her tardy. No, I didn't accidentally mark her tardy. She was tardy. She acknowledged that she was, but still asked me to let it slide. It wasn't until I denied her request that she declared hatred.
To be honest with you, I couldn't be happier. It seems this past semester I have been swimming in a sea of indifference. Students are not turning in work. They give me blank stares when I suggest books that they may like to read on the side. They're certainly not concerned with getting to class on time. So, it's just refreshing to get more than apathy out of one of them. Sure it's hostile, but beggars can't be choosers.
